Beautiful actress and GLO Brand Ambassador, Monalisa Chinda must be the happiest among her peers in Nollywood at the moment. Fact is that she just moved one notch higher in her acting career when on Saturday, July 10, 2010 she won the most Outstanding African Actress Award, ahead of other screen divas in far flung Sidney, Australia.
The event was the Afro-Australian Music and Movies Awards, put together by the entertainment sector of Australia to honour deserving actors, actresses, music artistes, and filmmakers, among several others, and designed to reward the efforts and contributions of Australians of African descent in the arts. it is also aimed at recognising and giving awards to African artists based in Africa for inspiring young musicians and cators in Australia.
Variously described in superlative terms on account of her personal charm, talent, and versatility, Monalisa, who has just fully recovered from the collapse of her marriage to Dejo Richards last year, is a 2000 graduate of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt. She has appeared in several home video films in which she often played the role of the rebellious wopmen.
